Beyond Soul Eater, I have a ton of dorky obsessions. And sometimes I feel like I have no life and I’m all alone in this little nerd world. But then I meet people like Bailey and Jordan – my friends and co-workers. Jordan, a fan of the old-school anime that I grew up with, like Yu-Gi-Oh and Yu Yu Hakusho, but also the newer series like Black Butler and Soul Eater, has agreed to borrow my new collection four books at a time because she’s just as anxious to see the storyline’s new direction as I am. And then there’s Bailey. Until last night, I had no idea she was as nerdy as me. What started as a conversation about when Supernatural and Game of Thrones would start up again turned into a geekfest of Avatar: the Last Airbender, and the short-lived but much-loved Firefly. I think we scared the couple of regular customers who were hanging around! Sorry, guys! Bailey is still in high school, and I am so glad to see this kind of enthusiasm in the younger generations. A fandom is nothing if there are no fans.
Before I sign off today I’m sending a plea to what few readers I have – my YouTube account is basically dormant, so PLEASE let me know what kinds of videos you’d like to see. I want to find time to post things there, but I just don’t know what. I have learned that whatever I do, it must require very little editing – my video program is faulty at best, so keep it simple.
And to my readers who are nerds, and dorks, and geeks, please leave a comment or send an email telling me about your favorite anime/TV show/comic book series/sci-fi phenomenon so I can share it in a later post! My contact info can be found above and below this post. Have a great weekend, everyone!
