Goat Simulator is a Steam game made by Coffee Stain Studios. In it, you get to be a goat. You can baa, lick things and drag them around, headbutt stuff, jump over things and do sick backflips, go skateboarding, sacrifice people to your goat god, travel to outer space - just the usual goat stuff. And just this week, Coffee Stain released the first patch for Goat Simulator, and I've decided to spend the rest of June discovering new things and sharing them here with other goat fans. I have dubbed it the Month of the Goat.
Seriously, this game is crazy. Nothing about makes any sense, the physics are completely broken, but that's OK - the glitches are there intentionally. I'm not kidding, there is an achievement for making this game crash! It's part of what makes this game so hilarious to play and to watch. At least, I think so. This game really isn't for everyone. If you want a game with a polished storyline and thorough character development, you don't need Goat Simulator. If you just want to knock stuff over, terrorize people, and have a laugh at some bad graphic effects, you will probably like playing this.
For me, besides the nonsense factor, I enjoy finding secrets. There are achievements to earn and trophies to find that will unlock new skins and abilities. Later this month I will definitely tell you guys how you can unlock some these things. They are pretty cool.
I also enjoy the many references you will find in this game. Blow something up, earn points on a Michael Bay scale; yes, the towel by the pool has the number 42 on it because it will later help you unlock the hitchhiker goat; your Goatborn ability gives you a chance to Fus Ro Baa things; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are even hanging out in one of the sewers! It is utter madness and I love it!
So anyway, you can get your own Goat Simulator from Steam. You can check out some gameplay on YouTube - I know that PewDiePie, Markiplier, and even the Game Grumps have been playing it. If you are a subscriber to Game Informer, they also did a review in their most recent issue. And be sure to check back here on Wednesday/Thursday and Sunday/Monday for more info and crazy tales of my experiences!
(Later there will be links at the bottom of each of these posts connecting them all for your convenience.)
