I spent most of my last free day on a boat. Two different ones really, but I was on the water either way.
The first one was a ferry that took me to Coronado, and the second one took me out onto the Pacific ocean to go whale watching!

Coronado is another big tourist area. It had lots of cute shops, art galleries, beaches, and restaurants.
It's also the site of the hotel where the movie "Some Like It Hot" was filmed. Is it weird that I loved that film when I was a kid?

Coronado had several parks and apartment buildings too. I decided I want to live in San Diego, and even though Coronado is beautiful, I don't think I want to ride the ferry across the bay to get to work every morning.
It was so nice outside by the bay that I just laid around in the sun for a while.
I got lunch at a great little pizza place, but had to get back on the ferry after only an hour so I could make it back to the docks in time to catch the whale watching boat.
I had to run back to the ticket counter and run to the new boat to make it in time. I am so glad they let me on!
Next up is by far the best part of the day, maybe the best part of the trip. We didn't see any whales, but look who followed our boat around!
I almost fell asleep on the boat, the motion was so soothing. But I had to keep an eye out in case a whale made a last minute appearance! Sadly, they didn't. But the boat gave us all a coupon to come sail again for free since the whales were a no-show. And, on the way back in, I saw the pier where we partied!
