The third day of our trip, I had all to myself. So I decided to go on a self-guided tour of the harbor and the little tourist shopping village behind the hotel.
Later, I will have a video of me and my adventures. For now, you'll have to read about them here.

I started with the Gaslamp Quarter. It's a section of streets that are kept in the old style and it was only about ten minutes from the hotel. It was full of souvenir shops and restaurants, some of which we visited and shopped/ate at. At night, it's all lit up and some restaurants keep fires outside.
Next up was the Seaside Village. It is an area that features novelty stores and restaurants that serve local cuisine.
I bought a puka shell necklace at this shop, and had a great burger at a small grill. It had Thousand Island dressing, and it was delicious!

My favorite part of this area was that most of the buildings had a distinct, Spanish style. They were very pretty, and all the exotic plants looked at home near the beach.
I wish I had gotten to practice my Spanish, but there were actually very view people there who spoke it...

After lunch, I returned to the hotel walking down the boardwalk. It had a great view of the city, and it was also home to several street performers! There was a palm reader, a juggler, a man with lots of parrots, and a man who could balance stones on top of pretty much anything!
When I got back to the hotel, I decided it was time I hit the pool. I still wish I had gotten a new swimsuit, but mine was fine because I didn't stay long and I only floated around most of the time. Water is so relaxing.
I wanted to go back at night, but we had a party to attend on the pier! I got to wear some cute new clothes, see a live band, and drink a cranberry vodka on the dock with my mom. It was a very fun evening. But we were exhausted when we got back to the hotel.
